I grew up around a lot of strong people, and people who felt strongly all the time. There were many fathers that made me write this song. The evolution of a parents love for their children is turbulent, passionate, biased and fearlessly protective. We love our children and want them to love themselves as much as we love them, even if we have to yell our heads off at them day and night to get them to do it. I overheard many conversations and arguments on my street growing up echoing out of buildings , over songs on the radio and city busses passing by. I would see the embraces afterwards on the stoops after the tears subsided.
